Rip Eco, which is dedicated to creating sustainable burial solutions, has recently received NOK 100,000 in support from Innovation Norway. The funds were used for a thorough market analysis to assess the demand for their new prototype for environmentally friendly gravestones, Vannstein, among three different target groups.
In collaboration with FeedbackFrog, Rip Eco conducted twelve in-depth interviews with potential users in two age groups (50-60 and 70-80 years), as well as with industry experts, including gardeners and cemetery managers. Respondents appreciated Vannstein's unique features, such as rainwater collection and storage that provides natural watering for plants, easy installation, and a sustainable design. A consistent theme was the desire for both personalization and environmentally friendly solutions.
Respondents in the older age group expressed enthusiasm for a more aesthetically unique burial memorial that does not place maintenance burdens on the family. The interviews also revealed considerable dissatisfaction with the fact that most tombstones are imported, mainly from Asia, which sparked interest in Vannstein as a local, sustainable alternative.
Thanks to this support, Rip Eco has gained valuable insights for further development of the concept, and they are now well positioned to take Vannstein further. This market validation phase confirms a demand for their unique, eco-friendly product and strengthens Rip Eco's ability to shape the memorial industry in a more sustainable direction.
